Michael Jordan practiced and practiced. He did not drink until later in life, no drugs, no out there partying like others on his team. He was out there practicing, practicing, and more practicing.
I love stories, and I am going to tell one now. And I am going to tell you about Bill Bradley. He was an all-American basketball player at Princeton University. And he played in the NBA and the New York Knicks. He won an Olympic gold medal and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. How did he perform so well on the basketball court, for one thing, when he was in high school, he practiced four hours a day, and every day? His practice routine was to end by making fifteen baskets in a row from each of the five spots on the floor. If he missed the shot, he would start over from the beginning. And he continued this practice all through college and professional career.
Practice makes Perfect for YOUR Child.
If YOU want to be good at Math or Science then practice and practice. And this is the same with anything – it is all about practice and more practice. What kind of distraction do YOU have or your child has. Just think if they spent that distracted time practicing one thing really well. What would their academics be like then? One has to put in the time for anything and everything. Whether it is school work or YOUR professional life. One has to put in the time to get proficient.
Start where you are at, moving up into the next level of knowledge. Become proficient at what you do. If you work in an office, stop talking at the water cooler. And stop gossiping about others. Spend the extra time to become proficient. YOUR Child wants to become proficient in school. You are their anchor. Setting by example and moving up at work is how YOUR child learns how to move up in their classroom. Start today, do not wait until tomorrow.
