Being Proactive with Hormones.
There can be nothing more traumatic in a child’s life than going through puberty. YOU need to help them make that less traumatic. Childhood trauma can cause adulthood anxiety. And one of the things that can do that is not being prepared to go through puberty.
Help your child become aware of some of the body changes they are going to have. And the emotional changes also. Those girls will have tears and be attracted to boys in school. That boy will have urges that girls do not have. But their puberty affects the mind, body, and spirit. Being informed will help this child immensely.
Make sure YOUR child knows that they are the only ones in control of their body. A guy may tell the girl how much he loves her, but in reality, it is a guy thing to want to have sex with any girl. That those feelings need to be protected as the girl protects her body.
In today’s environment, with all the plastics and man-made products, YOUR child may go through puberty earlier than you did or your parents did. This is because there are lots of estrogens in man-made products that 150 years ago was not there.
There is so much information on puberty. Buy books, watch professionals talks, get informed with knowledge so you can talk and help your child through this change that is coming into their life. My mother never talked to me about anything concerning changes coming but back then it was unusual for any mother to talk to their daughter about that. That thing, puberty, needs to be talked about before the child actually goes through it. And the most a child knows the more comfortable and confident they will become. Be that parent that can inspire their child to know this is part of becoming an adult. A child has to protect their body, until they are mature enough to have sex, to have those love relationships, to have babies, or STDs.
