Competition is good – up to the point of where a person is destroyed for not being 1st in anything.
Many scholars agree that competition is necessary, ingrained and essential. And studies have shown that under certain conditions, competition can improve performance and happiness. Children are better off when they are trying to win rather than trying not to lose. And when they are confident. But achieving mastery in one thing is very good as we have seen athletics, scholarship, sewing, or anyone talent that each of us may have.
Competition – “Good” and “Bad”.
Children do have understand competition but they do understand the word “Win”.
Competition is an inescapable part of life. American Culture is based on competition in all business and other interests. One father of 5, a tennis player who has won the Davis Cup said that those greats he had played again realized the challenge of solving a difficult problem. Winning or losing is simply a measure of whether or not they have solved the problem. But it makes sense to me that competition is really problem-solving in any area of life.
Encourage YOUR child for their effort and good work. They will probably become competitive in their chosen field of interest. And they will become self-motivated, self-disciplined and good at decision-making.
