Can YOUR Child Make Good Decisions? When YOUR child was very young and getting their first ice cream cone – vanilla or chocolate? Those were important decisions for that little one. But, to keep up with decision-making as the young child develops is important. Can they tell good from the bad? Do they know when they have been overloaded on any one thing? And when a decision is too big for the age group. A decision on whether to take drugs, alcohol, or have sex is now down in some elementary schools. Is this the elementary school that your children go to? How do you know and are you active in their school? Not necessarily any parent group, because I have found them to be part of the problem of the educational system. So choose wisely and stay tuned in with your child and their peers.
Decision-making skills are a life-long learning process. We hope that we all make good decisions all the time. But that is impossible and not realistic. The best way is to have a board at your house divided with headings, good decisions, and bad decisions. Just give examples of things that could happen in their school and ask YOUR child, what is a good decision or why would you make a bad decision. Do their peers affect their decision or are they strong enough to make a good decision and take the heat? It is difficult. Even if you have a good job some parents still want others to like them so sometimes good decisions are not always made.
Can YOUR Child Make Good Decisions?
There are life-long consequences if good decisions are not made. Having a baby too young, becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol too young. Remember, that a brain is not fully developed until probably around the middle 20s. So how can a Middle School child make a good decision if they have not been trained?
