Toolbox and Goal-setting and More
Child’s Toolbox – what should be in their toolbox?
Self-confidence
Self-discipline
Self-identity
Self-aware
Self-assured
Self-motivated
Self-empowered
Toolbox-everyone needs its own Toolbox
For YOUR child it will be all about the Selfs – and that their Toolbox is filled with all the above and that day they use everything in their Toolbox. YOU have to help YOUR child fill their toolbox with all those phrases and more. Yes, there is always more for YOUR child to learn and have at hand so they develop into that strong and courageous adult YOU see for them and that they see themselves.
A child does not get to adulthood from just sending them to a good school or attending church or maybe not attending anything. Maybe, they are homeschooled and do not go to any religious organization. They still need your guidance and strength of communication with them.

Each year YOUR child needs to write down their own expectations for the upcoming school year. They will know the classes they will be having and maybe or maybe not they may have a natural ability in some class and not so much ability in another class. They will be able to write that expectation down-whether they believe they will need no help in a certain class or maybe a little more help in a class or 2. Have them post their expectations on their bedroom door. They can see it daily and be made to be more aware.

Being positive and using a good tone of voice will help in this effort of making Goal Setting as a daily item for YOUR child.
Goal Setting will become automatic for YOUR child as they develop and grow. When they understand that it is an annual event before school starts it will become a habit. It is a good habit – for the parent as well as the child. Something that they work on together before the new school year starts. After the end of the year – go over the Goal Setting list and talk with YOUR child how the year went and was it as expected and they met their expectations for the year. Will, there be adjustments for the upcoming year and when the classes are known a new Goal Setting list can be made?
