Does YOUR Child have their Toolbox? There are more or less 1 dozen items that should be in YOUR Child’s toolbox. Be proactive, self-disciplined, have good decision-making skills. And have confidence and be kind to everyone. Have goals and be independent thinker. Be respectful and have self-control and be motivated. And be able to budget time and money and think positive thoughts. Some of you may have a few more to add to this list. But this list is a good basic list that can follow YOUR child into adulthood. And it works well when they are little tikes and keeps encouraging them.
Everything in the universe is UNIQUE! Everything including your child. What has worked for you may not work for your child. Your child has different genes and different DNA than you, some the same but some different. Every snowflake, every piece of sand, and every human is unique. You may like apples and your child may hate apples. It will be different for your child than yours.
Help your child get a good foundation. You are their role model and their anchor. Act the part, have your own toolbox and use it daily. Like Dr. Peck said, “Life is Difficult”. But I believe if the toolbox is in use on a daily basis it will help your child through their many trials of development. However, I know you are courageous and brave and can make your child’s daily life smooth. And it does take your effort because you are developing also. You will develop until you die. And you will learn until you die. But if you are not learning something new and raising your level of knowledge then you are stagnant. Who wants to say at the end of their life, “I know I could have done more.” It is a daily journey for you and your child. However, make it a positive and stressless journey.
