Talking to your child about their basic physical health is an important part of the process of parenting. A stable living environment is very important for any
child, even as single parent I tried to make it a point to provide a stable living environment for my children: always to school on time, always had lunch money, always had their homework completed, always were protected from outside sources (whatever they were).
Proper nutrition:
I always cooked a good nutritious breakfast and dinner. If you let children, they would live on junk food-do not buy these junk foods. I would take the children out 1 time a month to a fast food joint in town. Otherwise, they had meals at home.
In order to grow and develop healthy bones children must be given a healthy and nutritious diet consisting of plenty of proteins, calcium, vitamins and minerals, and plenty of water. Their brains and their bodies will not develop correctly as they are growing if their body is not getting balanced meals in good proportions of all that.
Structured discipline is very, very important.
A child who is receiving the appropriate amount of discipline will understand what consequences for actions means. Setting rules for home and family and not wavering.
Physical activities are very important.
There are so many obese children and it is important to remember the child needs exercise and the right foods so they can grow up to be the successful person you have in your home. Physical activity is very important and every day if you can get out into the yard or at a park to do some kind of exercise with the child. They can start playing soccer or be in group activities at school but they need outside activities at home also.
A daily Schedule for taking care of one’s self physically is so important.
Taking a daily bath or shower.
Brushing teeth 2 – 3 times a day
Flossing teeth at least 1 time a day
Washing hair every day or every 2 days.
There is nothing worse than a child who comes to school with stringy and oily hair. As the child grows and develops they will be in this structured zone of taking care of themselves on a daily basis.
I am sure this is programmed into your child already and they know children who are not as fortunate as having a parent like you to see they have their needs are taken care of.
Encourage, empower and inspire your child.
You are it!!
