Dr. M. Scott Peck said in the first sentence to his blockbuster book: “Life is Difficult”.
Being Liked. As we are born into a family and develop it takes years to develop into an independent person. But, when we get out on our own we realize Dr. Peck is right. Outside of our family and friends where we have lived until we do not, it has been safe. Real-life is not as safe and the people we may meet along the way do not love us as much as family and friends did when we were young. And you can connect with other people and new friends and have wonderful relationships. But, there are things that you can do to make life less difficult. You can listen well, and extend a helping hand when necessary. And you can be respectful of yourself and others. Be kind to YOURself and others. Do stay away from negative and complainers. They are such a waste of time.
Being Liked.
Not everyone is going to like you but you can like everyone who has good traits. Move on and let go of any negative feelings towards others. It is a waste of time and energy to hang onto bad feelings and anger. Forgive yourself and everyone. It is cathartic and brings peace. One of my children had a teacher he knew did not like him and wanted me to move him to another teacher. I told him not everyone is going to love you as I do. Make the best of it and next year you will have a great teacher. He made the best of it and learned something along the way.
When you let go of anger, dislike, envy, and jealousy YOUR child’s school work will advance. Parent stress affects the child in ways we cannot imagine.
